Provides respiratory protection against ammonia and methylamine. Approved for respiratory protection against no more than 10 p.p.m. of formaldehyde. Used with 3M full face and full face respirators with bayonet filter holder.

It is used in a variety of applications, including laboratories, wood processing, carpet manufacturing and primary metal manufacturing. When properly adjusted, it provides respiratory protection against formaldehyde and against certain organic vapors at concentrations up to 10 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL) with average facial pieces or up to 50 times with full facial parts. . Full facial parts must be subjected to quantitative adjustment tests to ensure an assigned protection factor greater than 10 in negative pressure mode. They are not suitable for use in environments that represent a direct danger to life or health (IDLH, for its acronym in English). OSHA requires that gas-proof lenses be worn with half-face respirators when used to protect against formaldehyde.
